Windows Server - managing GPO on vista and for vista clients (vista policies) confusion..

I've taken a look at
http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsVista/en/library/5ae8da2a-878e-48db-a3c1-4be6ac7cf7631033.mspx?mfr=true
But i'm a little confused here.. do i need to copy admx files out to
our 2003 R2 server? If so.. i'm not sure from where i am copying them
either...
On a vista client.. logged in as domain admin.. do i simply run
gpedit.msc and edit the "vista workstation" policy and this will
somehow apply to all Vista boxes in our domain?
Is there a way to use gpmc.msc and create vista policies?
When i run gpmc.msc from the vista box.. it says it is version 1.02 c
2004... Shouldnt it be version 2.0?
Thanks

Nevermind.. i found the files directly under c:\windows..
I also found a nice tool for creating and converting admx files from
this page (near the middle):

Actually.. i created this custom admx file.. made sure it was placed
in the central repository on the sysvol.. it did replicate between
domain controllers.. but when i edit a policy.. i dont see it for some
reason...

**If i copy the admx and adml file to the local store.. gpedit then
shows the new template entry..
Wondering what the purpose of the sysvol one is, if it requires the
file be copied locally anyway?
not change it, cause I love it so far. Vista had problems, sure, but the kernel in Win7 beta is the same kernel that is in Vista SP1 / Win2k8. The major app compat issues / driver issues that still exist on Vista will still exist on win7 if vendors don't fix them (tested this with a I'm saying is that if you like Win7, you might really want to give Vista another chance in your production environment. Do the vista machines have any different GPO's applied than the XP machines? I'm not aware

Is it known that the Vista DNS server is secure? All my updates are up to date. Thanks. Thanks for correcting me. DNS cache client service runs on all Windows systems, since when? I have two Vista Ultimate systems. I've extracted the following from the management consol for the DNS client the failure of my network connection had no bearing on my attempt to access my Vista DNS client service from the other side of my firewall. If I have feather problems about the recurrent failure of my network connection which is through a Dlink DWA552 in Vista. This problem does not arise in Windows 7.
