Windows Server - Joining a 2008 Server to 2003 domain

I have a stand alone 2008 server running IIS. This system and the
website work perfectly outside the domain using the DNS server that is a
part of the domain. My problem occurs when I join the domain, the
website stops responding. I am sure my firewall settings are correct
since everything works when the machine is stand alone.

Is there isomething about joining the domain that would prevent my
website from working? Please help, I am at a loss.

DNS or IIS problem with Win2003 server Windows Server We have a Win2003 server running active directory and IIS. We have a calendaring website on the server that is accessed at calendar.mydomain.org both inside our firewall and externally. It is the only website running on our server and it is the default website. Our firewall also performs NAT since we are using private addresses internally. We have brought up a works fine from outside our facility. I have set up two A records in our DNS server on the Win2003 machine, one for calendar.mydomain.com pointing to the Win2003 server with browsers. When I try to go to the calendar.mydomain.com from inside our firewall everything works fine, but when I try to go to www.mydomain.com I get page for the www.mydomain.com site. What's going on here? It seems like DNS is working since my pings work, but why are my browsers getting redirected? EggHeadCafe - Software
SBS 2003 / ISA / IIS / DNS - works sometimes? Windows Server I have a freshly installed SBS 2003 premium, running both ISA and IIS (for OWA etc.). Everything configured using the wizards. However I seem to have several issues I've tried ping'ing, telnetting etc. and nothing works. And it isn't just DNS problems, because I can't access the internet using IP-adresses either. Also, I can so for weeks (no reboots in between). During the 'offline' periods I get frequent #7062 (DNS server encountered a packed addressed to itself on ip 192.168.100.1) errors from the DNS in the eventlog. I got none of these since friday @ 22.15. I do sometimes when i had the problems. In the beginning i suspected that the co-existance of IIS and ISA on the same server might be the cause of all this, but I've tried disabling the IIS service and still no luck. - MMC is a bit unstable. Especially during ISA management. If
External DNS & smtp relay security & recommendations Windows Server Hi, I purchased static IP address and cablemodem service and need to install an external DNS server and an SMTP relay service for an internal email server. I would like to use Windows 2003 server and turn on the firewall / ICS that comes with sp2. I looked up information on Technet for securing 2003 and DNS and didn't find any really good documents. What I did find was general information on Windows firewall / ICS and the general best practices for DNS I have listed below. Does anyone have any recommendations they can provide? Thanks. 1) Protect the DNS infrastructure of your organization by utilizing an internal root and name space. 2) Only the external DNS server is configured with Internet root hints. 3) All internal DNS servers are configured only
