as Cris suggests, you should have started a new thread for this completely
different question.
I think it's gonna work.
from there" suggests to me that the target machine is running some OS and
you have copied the files from a DVD on another system to HDD locally.
As long as the OS is Windows Server 2003 (I _think_ regardless of SP but
probably not SP2) doing so would upgrade the existing OS to SBS03 (including
Windows and SBS SP1).
But something confuses me. You suggest you have stopped install after the
base OS install and before SBSising it. The R2 CD/components from SBS 2003
R2 cannot be used at this point, you must complete SBSising the server
before applying the R2 bits (which are _not_ Windows Server R2 bits).
Complete the SBS install, then add SBS03 R2 components.

Yes that is what I was saying. Remember this is an older server in a test
environment. All I want was an OS installed so that I could access my D:
drive partition where I have the SBS 2003 R2 DVD files copied at. So I only
installed SBS 2003 up to where it reboots and you have the option to coniue
installing SBS.
Are you saying you don't have the SBS Service Pack 1 which includes
Windows Server Service Pack 1 installed on your server?

Hi Chris,
I got another question before I answer your replies. take a look at this
article from MS.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc719983.aspx
Important Installation Information
Before beginning a new installation, upgrade, or migration, consider the
following points:
Whether you are completing a new installation or upgrading your server,
you must complete Setup for Windows SBS 2003 with SP1. This is because
Windows SBS 2003 R2 can be installed only on a computer that is running
Windows SBS 2003 with SP1.
Now according to this it does not appear I can do a clean install of SBS
2003 R2 without SBS 2003 SP1? Am I reading this correctly? Not that it is
what I'm doing but according to this I cannot take a clean machine and
install SBS 2003 R2.
If this is the case then I know where I went wrong. Because this is in a
test environment on a server that has no DVD drive I simply copied all of
the SBS 2003 R2 files from the DVD and ran setup from there. I did not
complete the SBS portion. Just installed Windows 2003 Server so that I could
access my D: drive to install SBS 2003 R2.
How are you trying to join this server to the domain?
Please run an IPCONFIG /all from both the SBS server and the Win2k8
server and post here
Be sure to identify which is which.

I'm trying to join a Windows 2008 server to a SBS 2003 R2 domain.
The SBS
2003 R2 server is fully patched and up to date including KB926505
which
needs to be applied according to MS to join a W2K8 server to a SBS
2003
domain. I am on the SBS network as I can ping the SBS server as well
am able
to pass through the proxy for internet access. The error mesge I
receive is
as follows......
The following error occurred attempting to join the domain
netowrk path was not found.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
