home folders

Asked By teddkilro

Is there any way in a 2003 SBS environment to have 2 different locations for
user’s home folders to exist. I am experiencing electrical influx in our
building causing servers to properly (UPS) shut down every once in awhile.

Problem is I am not here all the time to power up servers. I need users to
have access to their data at all times. I have all users "my docs" pointed to
a dir on a 2003 sbs server for network backups.

Any help would be appreciated.

Short of a second server somewhere where it would not be affected when =
the power acts up and setting up DFS, I can't think of anything off the =

thought about using system tools/backup on all XP systems.

thought about using system tools/backup on all XP systems. backing to their C
drive, however there is too many steps for them to restore. i guess i will
find backup software that online that allows me to "copy" so that they can
see folders and files.

thanks anyway.

If you're using My Documents Redirection, aren't the contents of the My Docs

If you're using My Documents Redirection, aren't the contents of the My Docs
directories getting synched back to the workstations anyway? If not, I'd
configure that first - in that case, if the server holding the redirected
docs goes down, it'll be transparent to the users, at least as far as the My
Docs are concerned.
