Mac has very slow connection to Appache tomcat Webserver - PC connection very fast

Asked By Jeff

I have a windows 2008 server, running Appache tomcat, and a product
called Pachyderm 21. PC's have no trouble accessing the web server,
connection is very fast. MAC's on the other hand are experiencing some
very long, slow delays. It may take over a minute to connect to the
web server, then log in, then click on a link or two, then it speeds
up very fast. If you don;t touch anything on the mac for about 2
minutes and click on a link, it is very slow again.
I have disabled IPV6
I have Disable SMB 2.0
The server is 1 GB ethernet
MAC is connecting 1 GB ethernet

I have also tested creating a shared folder and copying a large
file... Although the PC copied the 540 meg file in about 30 seconds,
it took the MAC about 1 1/2min. However, despite the slowness in
copying a large file, the mac was quick at browsing files on the
windows 2008 server.

Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Thanks,
Jeff

Have you tried to disable the RSS/TCP Chimney feature on the 2008 machine?

Still slow. No change noticed by disabling the RSS feeds. Tried
Safari and Firefox, both using IP address and Server name.

Then I would try to detune SMB signing on the domain controllers.

Then I would try to detune SMB signing on the domain controllers. it is
not recommended due to security, but this may be what is going on. It
was a default change we used to make years ago when 2003 came out.

Other than disabling SMB signing, I am sorry, I am fresh out of ideas.

Other than disabling SMB signing, I am sorry, I am fresh out of ideas. I
would suggest to place a call with Microsoft PSS, if this is causing a huge
problem.. I assume you have tried the Apache forums or support?
