Hi,

I recently setup a SBS 2003 Server for a ME (Micro Enterprise). We are
experiencing slow transfer speeds using the SMB Protocol. When we test
using Memory to Memory Transfer over the network and FTP it works at
full gigabit speed (Limited by the PCI Bus), but we are limited to
100Mbps Full Duplex Speed using the SMB Protocol.

I have tried adjusting the TCP Windows Size with minimal results.

Hardware Specs

Intel S5000VSA Main board
2x Intel XEON 5410 Processors
4GB RAM
4x 800GB (RAID 0+1) SATAII (200MB/s Sustained Transfer Speed)
3x Intel 1000/Pro NIC (Onboard Teamed), (Other for Internet)

SBS 2003 RC2

Any Ideas?

Regards,

Justin

Note that SBS is its own beast and SBS203 questions are best asked in
microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs for the best results.

If at all possible disable the NIC teaming and use only a single NIC
in your server. Unless you are using ISA you do not need two, and a
multihomed DC can have all sorts of problems. Use a good perimeter
firewall appliance.

Overriding default SBS 2008 policies Windows Server We have an SBS 2008 located at one site of a multi-site network site VPN tunnels. I added a group policy that explicitly allowed Remote Desktop through the Windows firewall for the three subnets involved. However, the SBS 2008 canned Windows XP Policy lists me from making RDP connections across the VPN. I edited the canned time a wizard is run? Could I get the desired effect in some better way? Best practices to setup a FTP server in a SBS domain Windows Server Our ISP is hosting our FTP at this moment, and we would like to host it by ourselves, mainly because we given 5GB storage space which is not large enough. There are other benifits when hosting FTP by ourselves, please read on. Our plan is to setup a retired Windows 2000 server within the domain and install FileZilla FTP server software on it. We will give it a static IP address and forward port It will be much easier for our internal users to upload their files onto the FTP server - copy / paste Because the FTP server is part of the domain, we can share the FTP folders as mapped drives
