Windows Server - Network "Roles"

I understand that the heartbeat network on MS clusters should always
be set to private-only.

Is there any advantage to setting the production network to "mixed
(public and private)" as opposed to public-only?

Thanks.

Yes, as this will provide redundancy for the cluster communications.

Yes, I agree with Ryan, I would recommend to put the public on mixed
If your HB fails, the cluster will continue to operate and sending HB over
the public.
You are reducing single point of failure by doing this
