Windows Server - CleanMem install Problems

Asked By Buffalo on 25-Feb-12 04:32 PM
I tried installing Cleanmem 2.3.1 free on my Win2000ProSP4 PC and I get an
error message saying that "Cleanmem_2.3.1_setup.exe is not a valid Win32
application".
I scanned the exe file with MBAM, SAS and Avira before trying to install it.
Nothing found.
Any ideas?
I do not seem to have any problems installing other programs.
That version says it is compatible with Windows 2000.
Thanks,
Buffalo
PS: I tried googling for answers and did not find one. I also dl'd that same
file from several different sites, so I do not believe the file was corrupt.
PPS: I know most 'memory optimizers' are considered snake oil, but this one
has good reviews and I thought I would try it.

Well, even though the webpages says it is for Win2000, I have a feeling that
it needs XP at the minimum.

Finally found one site that stated it was for XP as the minimum.
Too bad the other sites state it will work on Win2000

In article <jibk00$giv$1@dont-email.me>, Eric@nada.com.invalid says...

Programs like these are generally snake oil. In reality, they do little
to nothing.

That's what I hear a lot. This program was supposed to actually work on PC's
with 1 GB or less of Ram and I thought I'd give it a try and then uninstall
it if it did not help.

PS: PC with Win2000ProSP4 with 1GB of Ram and an AMD mobile cpu running just
over 2GHz and a GeForce 7600GT/256MB AGP card.
