Windows Server - W2k desktop icons

I organise my desktop icons in positions that I find convenient.
In the last couple of days on bootup they appear arranged as
though I have selected 'auto arrange' which I have not.
I can easily get back my preferred arrangement because I have
installed one of the programs to save and 'Restore Desktop Icon
Layout'.
I guess the icon arrangement in the registry has become corrupted
but I do not know where to look or how to fix it. Any help
appreciated.

Update:
I think it may be connected to MBAM. As soon as I downloaded the
latest version, the icon positions suddenly went to 'auto
arrange'.

Defragging the registry Windows Server Some registry cleaning programs also offer registry defragging. Is this necessary? Doesn't the defragger that comes with Windows (as well as other defraggers)defrag the registry along with the rest of the drive? Is there any benefit to defragging the registry first before defragging the rest of the drive (or vice versa)? Thanks.
