I am experiencing some functional problems when using my computer that would
seem to be related to my use of IE 8.
We have two computers in the house both operating via Ethernet (DSL
connections) although both also can operate via wireless connection. One is a
laptop while the other (the subject of this inquiry) is a desk top (HP
Pavilion a1600n). The problem encountered only occurs on the desk top when
using Internet Explorer 8. About six weeks ago we installed Windows 7 on the
desk top and everything worked fine. Within the past week however, we have
experienced some odd behavior related to accessing items when using IE 8
(similar problems are not evident when using FireFox).
Symptoms include: when using MSOffice Web Access I can see all of my email
however, I cannot use any of the commands, e.g. reply, new, forward, access
calendar details, change contact information, etc. Similarly, when using IE 8
and attempting to access a hyperlinked PDF file the usual double left-click
on the mouse results in no action by the application ??? it seems as though it
simply isn???t recognizing the command. However, when I right click on the same
link I get the usual list of options as to how I may wish to open the item
and can access the file in that manner.
I suspect some security setting has been inadvertently changed. MY IE 8
security settings are at the default medium level and I don???t think that has
changed in the past week or so.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
