Windows Server - Biztalk Project not available in Visual Studio 2005

Asked By ngruso on 14-Feb-08 05:06 AM
I just installed Biztalk Server 2006 R2 Developer Edition and Visual Studio
2005 on a Windows 2008 server. I not installed them in the default location,
but on other harddisk.
Now, the Biztalk Project template is not available in Visual Studio. Also,
when I try to load a solution containing BizTalk projects, I get

The application for project 'C:\Projects\MyBiztalkProject.btproj' is not
installed.

Make sure the application for the project type (.btproj) is installed.

How do I make the Biztalk Project template available in Visual Studio?

Greets,
Nils Gruson

Do you have Visual Stuido 2005 SP1 installed. If not try that.

I had to fully uninstall Biztalk and reinstall it from scratch. A repair
did not work, once I reinstalled Biztalk, the Biztalk project template is
available in Visual Studio.

As long as you have the "Developer Tools" option checked during
installation/repair, you should have biztalk template available in visual
studio.

Probably you installed BizTalk before VS.NET? That wont work. The
BizTalk Installation adds the VS.NET options only if it finds
VS.NET...

I have the same problem. I've installed BizTalk RFID 2009 om a MS server 2008, with SQL server 2008 and Visual studio 2008. I have managed to make virtual providers and tags, see them in my SQL server, and read the data in the rfidsink-table in Visual Studio, by following the tutorial "supply chain" from MSDN library.

I now want to make a new project from scratch, and if i have understood the workflow correctly, this is when i need to be able to create a new BizTalk project in Visual studio. Right? Because Visual Studio is the place where I specify what if want to do with the tags that have been read. Right?

(I'ts my second week in my first job, and installing BizTalk RFID, and making it communicate with our existing software is my very first task. I have not worked with SQL server, Visual Studio, MS server or IIS before, as i am fresh out of school. I am very aware of the fact that there could I could have ignored some completely basic facts, somewhere along the way...)

I selected complete installation of BizTalk RFID, so the SDK should be installed. If i try to repair the installation, and select that the SDK will be installed when needed, the wizard tells me that that would free up disc space.

What do I do now? I would be most grateful for any help, or even just a kind word =) Or a link to a great page that tells me what to do.

Best regards, Gudrun
